As a result of the Your Place, Your Stirling voting, Dunblane is to get some Outdoor Gym Equipment there are a variety of users that can benefit from such equipment.
This article will expand on that a little more on how outdoor gyms can benefit different parts of our community. A link to a survey so that you can have your say is at the bottom of this article.
Why An Outdoor Gym? (General Adults)
With the pressures of work and family life, the popularity of technology drawing us indoors and the financial concerns felt by many, it can be hard to find the time, money and motivation to get outside and exercise.
A range of outdoor gym equipment for parks, has been specifically designed to be used by everyone, any age, any ability. Outdoor exercise is proven to enhance fitness, stimulate emotional wellbeing and help deliver essential oxygen and vitamin D. Each piece of gym equipment is simple to use, providing specific physical benefits including muscle strength, cardio fitness, flexibility, balance and co-ordination — not to mention a huge sense of achievement and an enormous amount of fun! What’s more, once installed, they are free for our community to use.
Support Active Ageing
To ensure people age well accompanied by good health, it’s important to remain active, engage in regular exercise, maintain your social contacts and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Getting our aging population more physically active is vital in preventing the onset of numerous conditions.
Some outside fitness equipment has been specially designed to provide low impact exercise options for older people to keep active, fit and to provide a place of social interaction. As well as gentle cardiovascular exercise, our outdoor gyms improve balance, co-ordination, flexibility and they are really good fun to use.
During the age of 11 and 18, the most awkward growth stage, children face an overwhelming number of pressures. Self-esteem, body image, stress, bullying, peer pressure, obesity. It’s no wonder so many of our teens are facing depression.
A range of outdoor fitness equipment provides a new approach to physical education. Using adult style gym equipment, setting their own pace, every pupil will feel the benefit.

The Disabled Combo has been developed for people in wheelchairs. Its clever design enables the user to position their chair under the frame for a dual upper body workout.
