Dunblane and Bridge of Allan Councillor Alastair Majury has secured dropped kerbs in Dunblane, so that mobility scooter and wheelchair users can move around the historic city more easily.

Pavements, along the Old Doune Rd, Doune Rd, Wallace Rd, Springfield Terrace, and the High Street are amongst the areas that will benefit from Cllr Majury’s advocacy, and he has asked the community to highlight other routes that would benefit from dropped kerbs to improve accessibility for all.

Issues such as a lack of appropriate dropped kerbs can be all too easy for able bodied people to miss. There are many other issues that can cause difficulty to the elderly, as well as to mobility scooter and wheelchair users such as uneven pavements due to tree roots, and overgrown bushes.

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan Councillor Alastair Majury said:

“It’s always important to regularly highlight access issues that confront older and disabled people on an almost daily basis.

Access to services such as health, education and leisure is a basic human right and should be non-negotiable. Dropped kerb is one aspect of the improvements necessary for improving access for all, I would welcome additional suggestions as to how we can improve both Dunblane’s and Bridge of Allan’s accessibility.

I’m delighted that Stirling Council responded positively to my request, and have implemented these improvements.”
