Dunblane BID Limps On

As reported by the Stirling Observer in November 2019, Dunblane’s Business Improvement District was to be wound up after a significant number of the city’s traders objected to it’s proposed renewal.
Discover Dunblane Ltd was established in May 2015 following a ballot, but as the five-year term was due to end in May 2020, a petition signed by a significant number of the city’s traders including a number of well known names that trade on the high street, were opposed to a second term of the BID.
However an update from officers on the status of the BID has revealed the following:
Discover Dunblane BID has taken the option to extend its term following the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act which allows Business Improvement Districts to legally extend their current terms until the 31st March 2021.
The BID will, therefore, continue with existing arrangements until this date — overseeing initiatives and spend the remaining budget on approved projects. It will not, however, invoice local businesses for levy payment during this extension period.
